The Adrian Country Club was the venue for the final regular season golf meet for the Adrian Dragon golf teams as they hosted the Trojans of Worthington. Both Dragon teams played well, but were still defeated by the Worthington golfers. The Lady Dragons lost a very close match by the slim margin of 3 strokes, 188 – 191. The boys team also registered one of their lower team scores of the season, but fell by a score of 170 – 186.
Ryan Elias shot a round of 41 to tie for the runner-up placing for the meet. Ryan’s play has been consistent throughout the season and he will lead the charge as the Dragons enter Section 3A tourney action. Mitchell Veld (44), Brady Henning (48), and freshman John Christians (53) contributed to the team total of 186. Cole Weidert and Landon Runia both tallied rounds of 60 in the Thursday meet.
Alexia Kemper fired a round of 42 in the girls competition and finished the day in a tie for medalist honors with Anneka Weg of Worthington. Mackenzie Wagner’s round of 47 earned her the runner-up position on the day. Jada Elias (50) and Madelyn Odell’s, career low of 52, finished the scoring for the Dragons. Annika Elias and Courtney Penning shot rounds of 57 and 60 respectively.
The Dragons now prepare for Section 3A tournament play which will begin on Wednesday, May 25th at the Worthington Country Club. GO DRAGONS!
