Two New Murray County Businesses to Open Near Currie

LeClaire Taxidermy and Christina’s are two new businesses in Murray County, located just east of Currie, that will be opening in the near future. LeClaire Taxidermy will open as soon as interior construction of the new shop is completed. Christina’s will be opening shortly after the beginning of the new year.

Adam LeClaire, who grew up in Currie, will be opening the doors to LeClaire Taxidermy. LeClaire, who is employed by ADM Prairie Grain Elevator, Currie, plans to work evenings and weekends in his taxidermy studio. “I have hunted my whole life. I grew up in Currie and have enjoyed the hunting opportunities in the area. I’ve always thought that it would be fun to be able to do taxidermy so I took classes from the gentleman who has been doing taxidermy for my mounts. Taking the classes takes about year to complete, but there is still more to learn,” LeClaire stated.  He now holds both his federal and state licensures for taxidermy.

Even before his classes were completed, LeClaire had people asking him if they would do mounts for them. (Chrissy helps with finishing work on the mounts.) “I thought that I would do taxidermy for family and friends, but it has expanded way beyond that. I took in forty mounts,  animals and birds,  last year. I soon realized that it was a great hobby, but that it could bring in more income for our family as well.”
