The Triple “A” Award was established in 1988 and is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The purpose of the award is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom and on the athletic field. Nominations are limited to two qualifying students per school, one male and one female. To be eligible for the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award a student must be a high school senior at the time of nomination, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the date of nomination, participate in League-sponsored athletics and fine arts activities, and comply with the MSHSL’s Student Code of Conduct.
The 2018-2019 Adrian High School Triple ‘A’ award nominees are Sabdi Bravo and Dakota John.
Sabdi is the daughter of Alejandro and Mayra Bravo of Lismore. She is involved in many activities both in and out of school. Sabdi is a member of the Student Council, Partners in Prevention, and the National Honor Society. She has been a member of the cast for the fall play and plays volleyball. She is a member of the Honor Band, the Marching Band and the Concert Band. She competes on the Math League, in Speech and the Knowledge Bowl and is a member of the Spanish Club. Sabdi also finds time to volunteer for church. Her future plans are to attend Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD and major in Biology with plans to go into pre-med.
Dakota is the son of Jim and Shelley John also of Lismore. Dakota is a member of the Student Council and the National Honor Society. He plays football, basketball and runs track and field. He is a member of the Spanish Club and has participated in the fall play. He competes in the Knowledge Bowl. Dakota is a member of the Concert Band and the Marching Band as well as of the Adrian High School Choir. Outside of his busy high school career, he is in 4-H and volunteers at church. After graduating, Dakota plans to attend the University of South Dakota and major in Medical Biology with plans to go into pre-med.“It is truly an honor for us to be selected. We are proud of each other and of our entire class. We have a highly academic class, so it is more of an honor because we were chosen out of all of our qualified classmates.”
