Private family inurnment took place prior to the service at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, IA. Travis passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Travis was born January 26, 1964 in Rock Rapids, IA, the son of Robert and Melvina (Nagel) Klaassen. He graduated from Little Rock High School in 1982. On November 29, 1991 Travis was united in marriage to Joanne Stoel DeVries in Worthington, MN.
Travis worked various jobs throughout his life, but most of all he loved the farming and trucking God entrusted him to do. He was very thankful to his mom and dad for showing him the right way to do things. He will be remembered as a strong but loving man, whose struggle with his disease never changed his outlook on life. He was always “living the dream” and helping anyone who needed help. Travis loved his Heavenly Father very much and tried to do right each and every day. If anyone ever needed help he would be the first one there. He was there for so many truckers, ones he knew forever and others he may have just met, but if they needed help, he was there just the same. He was always thankful for the help the guys at the packing houses gave him when he “brought in the load”. He loved the livestock God entrusted him to care for and he gave them the best care possible. He was thankful for his “golfing and motorcycle riding buddies”, there were a lot of good times.
But most of all he loved his family so very much. Sometimes he had a hard time saying it, but he was so very proud of his children. His children and grandchildren gave him a “few headaches” but more importantly, lots of joy.
Those left to carry on his love are his wife of 26 years, Joanne; daughters, Heidi (Bradley) Garms; Crystal (Kenny) Daniels; Tracy (Daniel) Henning; Terri (Bradley) Sneller; son, Jason Klaassen (Maria Allan); daughter, Teresa (Adam) Bullerman; son, Clint (Jamie) Klaassen; 15 beautiful grandchildren; his father, Robert Klaassen; sisters, Darcy (John) Kellen, Dawn (Layton) Arends, Doreen (Curtis) Krahling; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
