The Adrian Dragons sent two wrestlers to 9th Grade League State Wrestling

Jesus Anaya and Preston Nelson both qualified to wrestle at the state tournament in Champlin Park, MN.

Jesus Anaya started out the day strong with a fall in 2:07 over Chase Rudolph, advancing him to the second round in the 100 pound weight class. Anaya then defeated Studemann from ACGC in a 5-1 decision. Anaya continued his winning streak by earing a 8-4 decision win over Teagan Block in the semi finals, earning him a spot in the state finals. Anaya battled in the finals against Brad Howes of Anoka, but fell short of a win. Anaya lost 6-3, earning himself 2nd place in state.

Preston Nelson started off the day with an exciting 6-4 decision in overtime. Nelson was taken down early by Kaden Hartwel, but battled back to tie up the match 4-4 with just seconds remaining. Nelson was able to earn a quick take down in overtime, defeating Hartwel 6-4 in the 138 pound weight class.  Preston then wrestled a tough match, losing to Caden Dewall from Becker in a 7-0 decision. Dewall went on to place 2nd in state.  Preston started out his third round wrestling strong with a couple of take downs, but during the 2nd period, his opponent was injured and had to forfeit the match. Preston Nelson moved on and was able to defeat Wyatt Doubler in another overtime match. Preston was taken down early in the match, but was able to battle back again to earn another win. Nelson lost his last match of the day in a 0-5 decision, earning himself a 6th place podium finish.
