Springfield tops Adrian 35-21

Last Friday, Sept. 14, the Dragon football team was on the road to take on the Springfield Tigers on the gridiron.  The Tigers came out victorious with a 35-21 victory.

The game got underway with the Dragons on defense.  The Tigers were able to march down the field (aided by three Dragon penalties totaling 35 yards) for an early touchdown.  The PAT was blocked by Adrian’s Scot Edwards, leaving the score 6-0 Tigers.

The Dragons could only muster five yards on their first offensive possession before punting the ball back to the Tigers.  The Tigers had their offense moving with a first and goal from the eight yard line.  The Dragon’s Logan Taylor was able to get pressure on the QB, forcing an errant throw, that was picked off by a diving Preston Nelson to end the Tiger threat.

Adrian’s offense was forced to punt again after three plays.  The Dragon defense stiffened, forcing a three and out of their own to get the ball back.  Adrian was able to get some offense going by gaining three first downs, but eventually punted the ball back to the Tigers.

The Tigers used a 44 yard pass to get the ball down to the Adrian two yard line.  The Dragon defense held serve for the next three plays before the Tigers found the endzone on fourth down.  The two point conversion was successful making the Dragon deficit 14.

The Dragon’s next game is Friday, Sept. 21 at home against Sleepy Eye.  See you on the bleachers!
