Cloudy and soggy weather conditions did not stop the Dragons Cross Country team from running some of their best times of the year or even their cross country careers. Abbey Leopold was the first running competing for the Dragons in the 1600 meter Junior High race. Leopold paced the course in a season best time of 8:07 which was an indication of how the meet would go for her teammates. She placed 12th overall. William White-Mcleise finished the same 1600 meter course in 8:15 and placed 32nd.
Sophomore Moriah Bullerman led the varsity girls. She was able to pace the 5,000 meter course in 21:15, a season best, which was good enough for 9th overall of the 89 runners. Hiltyn Heitkamp ran a very smart race, moved up to place 33rd overall with a season best time of 23:56. Gracia Elias was just one second behind placing 34th in 23:57. Halle Heitkamp and Alysha Wieneke were also very close also, placing 47th and 48th with times of 25:26 and 25:27 respectively. Courtney Penning race a personal best of 26:50 to place 64 and Annika Elias ran 27:27 to place 70th.
Brady Henning had a solid day running 17:47 and placing 8th overall of 100 boys running the 5,000 meter loop. Junior Christian Weidert continued his improving ways running 19:15 and placing 22nd. Caleb Hornstein placed 69th and ran 22:25 as he passed numerous runners on the course. Senior Mitchell Veld ran his first 5,000 meter race at Windom. He ran 24:20 in his first race.
