A Cancer Benefit and Bike Run will be held on Saturday, August 27, to benefit Aiden Remme of Brewster. Organizers of the Balaton Bike Run have held annual events to benefit cancer patients and veterans. “We want to support kids or young adults in need in the area,” Scott Thomasson, one of the organizers, explained.
100% of the funds raised will be donated to help benefit Aiden Remme and his family, as Aiden battles brain cancer. He was diagnosed in February, and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments since that time. Aiden is the four-year-old son of Chris and Tracy Remme of Brewster.
September is recognized as Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and the Bike Run will help to kick off that awareness in the area this weekend.
There is a $20 per driver and $10 per passenger charge to take part in the Bike Run on Saturday. Any cars that want to come along are more than welcome to join in the run. Passengers will be charged $10 per person.
The run will start at KirPatricks in Balaton, with kickstands up at 1:00 p.m. They will be having a breakfast at 11:00 a.m., which has been donated as part of the run. They will go to Saloon 59 in Garvin, and plan to be there about 1:30 p.m.
The run will continue to Brewster, with plans to arrive approximately 3:00 p.m. The Remme family plans to be in Brewster to watch the bikes and cars come in.
“Aiden will get a HUGE kick out of it,” said his mother, Tracy. “Come and join us in Brewster, if you are unable to ride or drive. The Brewster bar is going to open up the grill for those who would like to eat when the run comes through. Thanks, TC Tavern!”
