Sanford Luverne Hospice Banquet and Auction Event 2019

Nearly 400 people attended the Sanford Luverne Hospice Charity Dinner and Auction on April 13, 2019 at the Grand Prairie Events in Luverne.  According to volunteer coordinator Helen Saum, the event raised nearly $92,000, all of which stays locally to support the Sanford Hospice program and The Cottage in the coming year.  The annual fund raiser was organized by the Hospice Advisory Board and included a plated dinner provided by the Blue Stem, both a silent and live auction and multiple raffles.  All items were generously donated by area businesses, families and individuals.

Highlights of the night included a poignant video of four hospice family members who shared their personal stories about the compassionate and personalized care their loved ones received at The Cottage.  Another highlight was the presentation of the 2019 Hospice Awards to three individuals who have contributed to the success of the hospice program. Award recipients were Curt Bloemendal named the 2019 “Friend of Hospice” for his work on the Hospice Advisory Board; Hospice Team Member of the year – Marie Clifford-Chapin, LPN at The Cottage, and Hospice Volunteer of the Year-Charleen Feekes, Adrian.   Each recipient received a framed watercolor painting by local artist Mary Petersen.

Culminating the night was

the New York City trip give-

away to a lucky ticketholder won by Sherri Thompson.  It is always a great night to get together to support such a great program in our area and spend time with family and neighbors.
