Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with the Rev. Dr. Daren I. Flinck officiating. Casket bearers were Tim Blume, Adam Blume, Craig Carney, Jon Weitgenant, Gary Behrens, and Steve Krohn. Burial was in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Robert “Bob” Jay Blume, age 66, was born on February 1, 1951, in Worthington, MN, the oldest son and middle child of Edward and Inez (Rietsma) Blume. He grew up on the family farm. Bob loved to farm, enjoyed cars and racing, and had a special love for dogs, with Liby being his last pet. He was very social with the local coffee clubs, had a very special interest with all his friends, and loved spending time with his best friend, Jon J. Weitgenant. Bob retired from farming in the spring of 2014 and enjoyed his retirement life. Okoboji, IA was one of his favorite places to spend time during his retirement. Bob died on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center in Worthington, MN.
Bob is survived by one sister, Carol Carney of Inver Grove Heights, MN; one brother, Timothy Blume and his wife Laurie of Worthington, MN; one niece, Amber Klinkenborg of Worthington, MN; two nephews, Craig Carney and his wife Anne of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Adam Blume and his wife Maggie of Worthington, MN, and other great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
