Reid Carlyle Erpestad

Lakefield, MN

Reid Carlyle Erpestad was born on June 1, 1952 in Windom, Minnesota, the son of William and Eunice (Wahl) Erpestad. Reid was baptized and confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. He graduated from Windom High School in 1970. He was united in marriage to Karen Carlson on April 16, 1990 in Reno, Nevada. He and Karen ran the Paradise Alley in Heron Lake from 1992 to 2003. Reid then worked at AGCO and drove truck for a few trucking companies. He also worked part time at the Round Lake Winery for a short time. The last 4 years, he had been the warehouse manager for Doug Bradley Trucking in Jackson. Reid passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 9 days.

Reid enjoyed hunting and bean bags. He played a lot of slow pitch softball in Heron Lake in his younger years and enjoyed playing golf with friends. He enjoyed riding his Harley and taking trips, including Sturgis. Reid was an avid Twins and Vikings fan and he enjoyed traveling and visiting unique wineries. He loved sitting around a campfire socializing with family and friends. Reid’s family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them.

Reisdis survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen Erpestad of Lakefield, two daughters; Heather (Joe) Leighty and their children, Madison, Kiana and Gavin of Brewster, Minnesota and Hilary (Ryan) Klenken and their children, Kristin, Kinsey and Kenna of Reading, Minnesota, his mother Eunice Erpestad of Windom, Minnesota, three brothers; Gary (Joan) Erpestad of New Castle, Colorado, Kevin (Kris) Erpestad of Silt, Colorado and Craig Erpestad of Rochester, Minnesota, two brothers-in-law; Kevin Carlson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Craig (Madonna) Carlson of Worthington, Minnesota, two sisters-in-law; Kimberly Carlson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Cheryl (Kevin) Doby of Yankton, South Dakota. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Reid was preceded in death by his father, William and a son, Keith Erpestad.
