MANKATO, Minn., August 1,, 2017 – The American Red Cross serving Southwest Minnesota is looking for additional local volunteers in the to help families after disasters such as home fires. To bolster their ranks, the Red Cross is offering a one-day “Fast Track” training for new volunteers on Saturday, August 26 from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge in Worthington.
“The joy you see within the families you offer assistance to who have been affected by a disaster is so rewarding. You can be part of this by volunteering today. What are you waiting for?” said Elaine Rothbarth, a Worthington resident and American Red Cross volunteer.
“More than 90 percent of the Red Cross workforce is volunteers,” added Leah Pockrandt, Executive Director of the American Red Cross serving Southwest Minnesota. “We’re looking for more volunteers in the Worthington area. It’s easy and people will be able to respond after just one day of training.”
