Last spring, the AHS National Honor Society officers met with me to discuss how they could help with the Library project. Over the summer, many teens helped us box books, transport the books to the New Vision Co-op building for our book sales, and helped sell the books for us.
In September, led by the same group of students, the AHS student body bought specialty “Dragon” sunglasses prior to homecoming. The students raised $500 and donated the money to the Library project.
In November, the students helped transport more books to the New Vision Co-op building. “Let us know when you need help again,” said the students. “We can help move books, if you need us!”
Guess what? We do, in fact, need help moving our Library collection – approximately 10,000 items (mainly books) need to be transported from the current Library building to the temporary spot at New Vision Co-op.
So, on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, shortly after noon, once the High School students have had their lunch, they will come to the Library and make a human chain to transport the books from one spot to another.
