Charles J. “Chuck” Nytes, age 71, of New Prague, died Monday evening, August 1, 2016, at Abbott-NW Hospital in Minneapolis. Chuck was born September 21, 1944, in Adrian, MN to Aloysius Henry and Elizabeth Caroline (Suedkamp) Nytes. He was a St. Adrian Catholic School graduate and earned BA and MA degrees in teaching at Mankato State University. Chuck taught 7th and 8th grade geography at New Prague Middle School for 35 years. He spent 20 plus summers working at Green Giant in Montgomery, and currently was employed as a Pro Shop attendant at the New Prague Golf Club.
Chuck enjoyed fishing, golf, camping, board games, and riding his moped. Chuck and Marlene loved going south in their motor home and spending the winter months at Palm Creek RV Resort in Casa Grande, AZ where he played golf, cards and water volley ball. He was a member of the KC’s, New Prague Golf Club, and was a founding member of the New Prague Area Teachers Men’s Card Club.
Chuck is survived by his wife Marlene; three daughters, Debra Nytes of Bloomington, Kristen & Bill Gullicks (and their children Andrew, Abbey, Brady & Ellie) of Hastings, and Allison & Chris Olson (and their children Libby, Audrey, and Justin) of New Prague; siblings Betty & Tom Strutz of Sioux Falls, SD, Willie & Kay Nytes of Adrian, Kathy & Steve Fallon of Blaine, Mary & Wendell Wagner of Worthington, Ann & Jay Hamilton of Lincoln, NE, and Michael & Nanci Nytes of Northfield.
He is preceded in death by his parents Aloysius & Elizabeth (Suedkamp) Nytes.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles J. “Chuck” Nytes, age 71, of New Prague, MN, was held Friday, August 5, 2016, at St. Wenceslaus Church, New Prague, MN, with Father Kevin Clinton officiating. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, New Prague, MN. Charles died Monday evening, August 1, 2016, at Abbott-NW Hospital in Minneapolis.
