Long time Adrian baseball coach, Kevin Nowotny, will be inducted into the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame on September 24, 2016. He will be among five honored at the South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament on August 13.
Kevin’s baseball career began at the young age of 8 when he began playing for the White Lake (South Dakota) Pee Wees. His love of the game stuck through the years of midget baseball, teeners, high school and at Black Hills State University. Through the years he earned SDIC Championships, District Championships, All Conference and All American honors. He was a four-time All South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference Selection and a 1979 NAIA All American. He was inducted into the Black Hills State University Hall of Fame in 2006. Kevin continued to play amateur baseball both in South Dakota and Minnesota through the years with teams in White Lake, Mitchell, & Dimock, SD, Slayton Barnstormers and of course the Adrian A’s. One of Kevin’s best memories playing amateur baseball came when he was part of the White Lake 1980 & 84 teams that made it to the state tournament. He remembers that it seemed the whole town came out to watch them play.
