The Nobles County 4-H Clubs hosted 4-H members visiting from DeWitt County in the Southeast part of Texas.  The Texans spent six days in Nobles County learning about Southwest Minnesota.  This is part of the 4-H interstate exchange program where 4-H members trade hosting duties and being hosted every other year.

The Texas students flew into Omaha where their hosts met them and took them out to eat. The trip started with plenty of excitement as the group “helped” the Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps family celebrate his birthday as they were visiting Omaha for the Olympic trials.  The group spent the six days touring   Blue Bunny in LeMars, a Nobles County dairy farm, the Thier cattle feedlot, group gatherings at local farms.  Fun activities like a trip to Wildwater West in Sioux Falls and the Drive Inn in Luverne made the trip pass too quickly.  Host families had time to bring their guests to area attractions, Morgan Sauer and family brought their guest to Pipestone, Curry, Palisade and the tri-state marker where they were able to stand in Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota at the same time.

Time was also taken for the fireworks show before they had to say goodbye to their new friends.
