Ellsworth School welcomes four new members to its teaching staff this year.
Jessica Albrecht
Jessica will be teaching Physical Education for grades K-12, health to grades 7-9 and DARE. She will also be leading the Lady Panthers as the head volleyball coach. Jessica earned degrees in Early Childhood Education, birth to grade 3, Elementary Education, grades K-6 and Physical Education, grades K-12 from Winona State University. This will be her first teaching job. Originally from Pickwick, MN, Jessica now lives in Ellsworth. About her job in Ellsworth she comments, “I’m very excited to start my teaching career in Ellsworth. This is a very caring and welcoming community and I am proud to be a part of it.
Hanna Hemme
Hanna will also be starting her teaching career at Ellsworth School. She will be stepping into the third grade teaching position. Hanna earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southwest Minnesota State University. She has worked at Rock Rapids Kids Club for the past three years with the school age program. Hanna is originally from Luverne and continues to live there. She states, “Working in the Ellsworth School is not entirely new. I student taught there in the spring of 2016 with Leah Deutsch, who was a very experienced and helpful mentor. Transitioning into having my own classroom will be smooth because I have the same students from student teaching. Along with great students I already know, I get to continue working with a very kind and welcoming staff.”
Jen Huisman
Jen is the new art teacher at the middle and high school levels. Jen earned her degrees at Bemidji State University and Southwest Minnesota State University. Jen lives in Luverne with her family, husband Brant and children MaKayla, Anna, Olivia and Levi. Of her new job she replies, “I’m excited to bring visual arts back to Ellsworth High School.
Mitchell Beekman
Mitchell will be teaching Social Studies to grades 7-12. He earned his Bachelor of Science at Bemidji State University and has worked as a long term substitute teacher at BOLD Public Schools, Wayzata Public Schools, Eastern Carver County Schools and Yellow Medicine East Schools. Originally from Sacred Heart, MN, he now lives in Ellsworth with his wife Dani. He comments, “I am excited to be teaching at Ellsworth Public School. I am looking forward to broadening the minds and horizons of the students at Ellsworth Public Schools through a variety of Social Study courses.”
