Mildred Heikes, age 86, of Luverne, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the Parkview Manor in Ellsworth. She was born March 27, 1930, in Nobles County, to Harvey and Etta (Lyons) Baal. She attended country school in Nobles County.

Mildred married Lawrence Heikes on September 14, 1948, in Ellsworth. After their marriage, they farmed northeast of Ellsworth until 1955 when they began farming northeast of Luverne. They moved to a farm southeast of Magnolia in 1957 and in May of 1999 they moved to Luverne. Mildred helped on the farm and also was a cook at the Magnolia Steak House.

She was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth from 1948 to 1992 when she transferred membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne. She was a member of Luverne Senior Citizen Center where she served on the board. She enjoyed gardening and helping on the farm.

Mildred is survived by, three children, Karen (Joe) Loosbrock, Magnolia; Larry (Aloyse) Heikes, Ellsworth; Lyle Heikes, St. Paul; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; sister, Lois Stahl, Sibley, IA; and a stepsister, Ruth (Ervis) Schilling, Adrian.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Lawrence, on February 28, 2010

Funeral will be Saturday, February 18th, 2017 at 2pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Paul Snyder. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Burial will be in the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth.
