A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael Frank Bullerman, age 59, of Adrian, was held Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at St. Adrian Catholic Church officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Adrian Cemetery. Mike died Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born March 6, 1958, in Adrian, to Landel “Boysie” and Marlene (Reese) Bullerman. He attended St. Adrian Catholic School before graduating from Adrian High School in 1976.
Mike met the love of his life, a little blonde girl from Jasper, Toni Ahrendt, while showing horses. The couple was united in marriage on October 22, 1977, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. They lived southeast of Rushmore where they milked cows and Mike drove a milk truck for Roos Trucking. In the early 1980’s, they moved their dairy farm northwest of Adrian where they built their family farm. Mike and Toni worked side by side their entire lives; they transitioned from the dairy to farrowing hogs for many years. Early on, Mike formed a partnership (M&M Bullerman) with Mark Bullerman. They raised and sold feeder pigs, raised bottle calves, and other ventures. Later, Mike built several finishing barns and worked closely with his son and brothers. He sold his business to his son, Dallas in June of 2012 and started commercial developments in Sioux Falls, SD. In 2007, Mike & Toni moved north of Adrian.
He was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church, a longtime board member at Adrian State Bank, and was instrumental in helping start up the Adrian Country Club Golf Course. Mike had a passion for hunting. He loved to hunt pheasants and coyotes and built many lasting friendships because of it. Mike owned many acres of CRP and sold the hides of coyotes he hunted to help pay to release hens to increase the area pheasant population. He also enjoyed bow hunting which created a special bond with his family and friends. Mike had an incredibly unique bond with his children and grandchildren. “Papa” never missed an activity that his grandchildren were in. Mike was known as a giving person and even in death, his giving continues as the donation of his organs will touch the lives of many people.
Mike is survived by his wife of forty years, Toni Bullerman, rural Adrian; three children, Dallas (Heather) Bullerman, rural Adrian; Brandi (Marty) Weiss, rural Adrian; and Jill (Jeremy) Van Ede, rural Adrian; six grandchildren, MaKaya & Travis Weiss; Hayden, Ashton & Marek Van Ede; and Talon Bullerman; parents, Boysie & Marlene Bullerman, rural Adrian; three brothers, Tom (Trisha) Bullerman, rural Adrian; Bob (Lori) Bullerman, Pipestone; and Randy (Renee) Bullerman, Adrian; two sisters, Jayne (special friend, Brett) Kathman, Sioux Falls, SD; and Lori “Odie” (John) Stoffel, Luverne; many nieces & nephews; and his mother-in-law, Millie Ahrendt, Jasper, MN.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; an infant grandson, Caleb Weiss; an infant brother, Joseph; four nieces, Vicki, Tara, Tanya & Teresa Bullerman; a brother-in-law, Bill Kathman; and his father-in-law, Dwayne Ahrendt.
