A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael Edwin Konz, age 62, of Adrian, MN was held Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at St. Adrian Catholic Church, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial was in the St. Adrian Cemetery. Mike died Sunday, August 4, 2019, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. He was born October 19, 1956, in Pipestone, MN to Edwin and LaVonne (Heinrichs) Konz. When Mike was very young, he moved with his family to the family farm north of Adrian. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1974 and later from Pipestone Vo-Tech in Agriculture Banking. He began working at the Farmers State Bank in Trimont, MN in January, 1976. Trimont is where Mike met Pam.
Mike married Pam Kieser on June 27, 1981, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. The couple lived and worked on the family farmstead north of Adrian. Mike began as a substitute Rural Mail Carrier in 1981. In 1991, he became a full time Carrier. He retired on July 31, 2019.
He was an active member of St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian; the Knights of Columbus; the St. Joseph’s Society; the Minnesota Rural Letter Carriers Association, as a board member for eleven years; the National Rural Letter Carriers Association; and had served on the Trimont Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and visiting. For Mike, faith and family were central to his life. He loved being with his grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his wife, Pam Konz, Adrian, MN; four sons, David (Megan) Konz, Sioux Falls, SD; Paul (Ginger) Konz, Sioux Falls, SD; James (Amber) Konz, Claremont, MN; Jonathan (Brooke) Konz, Sioux Falls, SD; and daughter, Kaitlyn (Scott) Voss, Marshall, MN; ten grandchildren, Noah, Edwin, Oliver, Martin, April, Logan, RaeAnn, and Michael Konz; and Whitney and Elizabeth Voss; four grandchildren on the way; mother, Vonnie Konz, Adrian, MN; three brothers, Dan (Deb) Konz, Brandon, SD; Ray (Jan) Konz, Brandon, SD; and Wayne (Roswitha) Konz, Mitchell, SD; a sister, Cathy (Dan) Houlihan, Elysian MN; and a brother-in-law, Arthur “Butch” (Becky) Parker, Lake City, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin; an infant grandson, Matthew; and a sister, Patricia Parker.
