Funeral Services for Marilyn Jean (Sis) Klinsing Berreau, age of 86, were held Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, MN. Marilyn passed away on August 10, 2018 at the Adrian Country Living Cottages. She was born May 17, 1932 to Earl and Dorothy Boock Klinsing on the family farm in Sweet Township in Pipestone County, MN, the second of 5 children. She participated in 4-H and played clarinet in the band. Marilyn graduated from Pipestone High School in 1950. She attended Mankato Commercial College, in Mankato, MN and completed course of study for Junior Secretarial. She graduated in 1951.
Marilyn married Frederic Berreau on November 18, 1951. They moved to Aurora, CO where Frederic was stationed on the Air Force Base. Their first two children, Frederic (Ricky) and Lynne were born in Colorado. They moved to Woodstock, MN and worked on the family farm. Children, Dana, Jon, Dawn and Chad were born during that time.
She was active as a 4-H adult leader, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She gardened, and cooked. She was always looking for a new recipe to cook. She did not love chickens and they did not last long at the farm. She taught her girls how to sew and bake. She was an active member St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock, MN.
In 1980 she moved to Marshall, MN where she worked for Congressman Vin Weber. She moved to Willmar, MN in 1983 and continued to work for Vin Weber. She switched jobs and went to work for Molenaar LLC in the area of customer service. She did this until she retired. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshall..
Marilyn moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 2000. She lived at Country Club Estates and then at Sunnycrest Retirement Village. She spent her time in Sioux Falls attending the Center for Active Generations and playing Wii bowling and Mexican Train Dominos. She often called her daughter to tell her where the best sales were. She spoiled her grandchildren by taking them to the zoo, swimming and other places. There was always a package of Oreo’s in the cupboard and milk in the fridge for grandkids.
In 2012 she moved to Adrian Country Living Cottages and lived there until her death. She was a member Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Frederic “Ricky” Berreau, and Jon Berreau; and her brother James Klinsing. Grateful for having shared Marilyn’s life are her children, Lynne Okani of Minneapolis, MN; Dana (Anita) Berreau of Lake Wilson, MN; daughter in-law Angelle Berreau of Adrian, MN; Dawn (Casey) Tomac of Sioux Falls, SD; and Chad (Jennifer) Berreau of Cottage Grove, MN; two sisters and a brother, Marlys Johnson, Lois Christenson, and William (Bill) Klinsing; 11 grandchildren, Brandi York; Justin Berreau; Melissa Berreau; Zachary Berreau; Isaac Berreau; Cassandra Tomac; Conor Tomac; Carli Tomac; Thomas Berreau; Joshua Berreau and Caleb Berreau; 4 great grandchildren, Aiden York; Tyler York; Cade Berreau and Owen Berreau.
