Funeral Services for Margaret June Spieker, age 91, of Ellsworth, MN, formerly of Worthington, MN, were held November 25, 2019 at Zion Presbyterian Church, in Ellsworth, officiated by Pastor Paul Snyder. Burial was in Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth. Margaret died Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She was born June 12, 1928, on the family farm in rural Nobles County, to Fred and Gertrude (Heinrichs) Wessels. Margaret attended country school in Nobles County and worked on the family farm until she was married.
Margaret was united in marriage to George Spieker on November 28, 1952, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. After their marriage, they lived on an acreage in rural Worthington. Margaret worked at home where she enjoyed raising their children, gardening, canning and all of the household chores. She moved to Sunshine Apartments, in Worthington, after George passed away. Margaret moved to the Parkview Manor Nursing Home, in Ellsworth in 2012, when she needed more personal care.
Margaret was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, fishing, and their occasional gambling trip to Flandreau, SD. She always enjoyed a laugh and looked forward to Christmas when she would give out her gag gifts.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Gerilynn (David) Arens, Sioux Falls, SD; granddaughter, Charity (Mike) Arens Schrank; grandson, Jon Arens; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Diane (Lonnie) Boltjes, Ellsworth, MN; and four brothers, Leslie (Dorothy) Wessels, Little Falls, MN; Ivan Wessels, East Moline, IL; Duane (Barb) Wessels, Bingham Lake, MN; and Larry (Sue) Wessels, Redwood Falls, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Randy Spieker; brother, Gene Wessels; and two sisters-in-law, Sonja Wessels and Sadie Wessels.
