Except for the Worthington rain out, cross country can not complain about the weather this year and the Redwood Falls meet was no different. The gorgeous upper 60/lower 70’s proved to be a foreground for impressive runs for everyone.
The lush Redwood Falls Golf Course has wonderful soft turf and plenty of trees. They should really consider having it earlier in the year when the temperatures are hotter and the ample shade would certainly help.
A very small meet, seven schools, seven boys teams and six girls teams, there were only four races. Junior high girls and boys were combined, varsity and junior varsity girls and boys were combined and a new grades 3-6 fun run followed the flowing and rolling course.
Thirty-one junior high runners toed the short start line. The lone male runner was Brody Loosbrock, who is still bothered with heel soreness. Josh Barr sat this race out hoping to heal from shin splints.
Brody did surprisingly well considering that he has been conditioning on a stationary bike for a week and skipping the last race. A ninth place 11:07 is very respectable on the slightly longer mile and a half course.
