It is with utter sorrow for his family to announce that Lyle B. “Pete” LaCore passed away on June 1, 2018 at Harrison Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A celebration of Pete’s life was held at a memorial reception on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Ware Funeral Home, 910 U.S. Highway 27 North, Cynthiana, Kentucky. A Mass of Christian Burial was said on Friday, June 8, 2018, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 107 Walnut St., Cynthiana, Kentucky. Burial will be private at Battle Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Lyle was born May 9, 1931 in Forest City, Iowa, to Clyde and Anne (King) Lacore, and grew up in the farming community of Lismore, Minnesota. He graduated from St Anthony Catholic School, Lismore, MN in 1950. Lyle proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the destroyer USS Laffey, DD 724, where he made many lifelong friends. Lyle moved his family from St. Paul, Minnesota to Cynthiana, Kentucky in 1974 to take on the role of Plant Engineer at the 3M company, where he worked until his retirement in 1992, after 31 years of total service to the organization. In true Lyle/Pete fashion, he also made lifelong friends with many of his colleagues there.
Lyle was preceded in death by his mother Anne King Lacore, father Clyde Lacore, and brothers Kenneth, Brian, Thomas, Donald and James Lacore.
He.is survived and achingly missed by his wife Mary Lou, and children Mark (Casey) LaCore, Linnae LaCore, Jacquelyn (Raymond) McNees, Suzanne LaCore, Nicole LaCore, Christopher (Kelly) LaCore; step-children David (Lisa) Case, Jamie (Debbie) Case and Tommy (Mary) Case. He is also survived by grandchildren Jonathan (Kelly) LaCore, Bryan (Lisa) LaCore, Timothy LaCore, Alex (Laura Beth) Fryman, Anna LaCore, Jesse Anholt, Katie (Kyle) Neal, Jordan Anholt, and Noah LaCore; step-grandchildren Andrew (Garyn) Case, Eric (Madison) Case, Brandon Case, Mason Case, Madison Case, Cyndi Lou Case, Mary Malcomb Levi, Sam Levi, Anna LLoyd and Chris Lloyd. His loving family has also grown to include great-grandchildren Brijette LaCore, Adelynn LaCore, Henry LaCore, Charlie LaCore, and two great granddaughters that will come into this world soon, who sadly won’t have the opportunity to get to know their great Gramps. He is also survived by his brothers Dean and William, and his beloved sister Patricia Jansen. He also leaves behind a great number of nieces and nephews who he loved mightily and who he shared many laughs and great times with over the years. Family gatherings were his very favorite times.
In recognition of their incredible and abiding friendship, honorary pallbearers for Lyle/Pete are Acey Terhune, Fred Pensinger, Walter Herrington, Thomas Holcomb, Jim Cox, Sonny Walker, Charlie Antle and Larry Lemons.
Pete’s family would like to make a special note of thanks to the staff at Harrison Memorial Hospital for the exceptional level of caring they did for him during his last weeks with us. In particular, we would like to personally thank Edna Whalen for her dedication and compassion.
