Funeral services for Lowell Sjogren, 82 of Adrian, MN were held Tuesday,  February 7, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, Adrian, MN.  Lowell passed away February 2 at the Sanford Hospice Cottage, Luverne, MN.

Lowell was born June 9, 1934 at Trimont, Minnesota, the son of Oscar and Ella (Hanson) Sjogren. He attended school through the 9th grade and then worked on the farm.  He entered the US Army on June 19, 1957 and served in Germany. He returned stateside in May of 1959 and then was transferred to the Army Reserve.

Lowell married Mary Ann Chesley in 1961 and they had two children, Scott and Mary. Lowell worked at the Ford dealership in Trimont for several years. The family moved to Granada, Minnesota in 1969 and Lowell worked as a mechanic with the W Hodgman & Sons Paving Company. Mary passed away in 1979.

Lowell was united in marriage to Phyllis Hoiland on April 8, 1988 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian and  gained two sons, Guy and Stuart. Lowell continued working as a shop and field mechanic until he retired after 32 years with the W Hodgman Company. He remained active in retirement working on his house. Phyllis passed away in 2013.

Lowell enjoyed hunting when he was younger and was a fisherman for most of his life, often going to Upper Whitefish Lake and Lake Okabena. He was a Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years.

Lowell is survived by three sons, Scott (Paulette) Sjogren of Reading, Guy Hoiland of Adrian, Stewart (Donell) Hoiland of Luverne; 15 grandchildren; three siblings, Wally of Trimont, Randy of Grand Marais and Linda Meese of Montana.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Mary and Phyllis; children, Mary and Leroy; and a brother, Gary.
