Funeral Services were held for Lorraine Ruth Ailts on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at The First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, MN with Dan Dettman officiating. Burial was in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
Lorraine was born on July 11, 1928, in Rushmore, MN, to Rens and Gertrude (Nagelhout) Spoelstra. She grew up on a farm south of Rushmore. She attended country school and graduated from Worthington High School. She worked for a short time before marriage at Campbell Soup Company in Worthington. On September 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marvin Ailts in Rushmore. They lived their entire married life in Rushmore where they raised their five children. Lorraine moved to Worthington in 2006 where she resided until her death, December 20, 2017.
She was an avid book reader, enjoyed spending time at the lake in the summer and traveling to Arizona. Lorraine was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore where she taught both Sunday school and Bible school. She was a den mother for cub scouts and in her later years volunteered at the Adrian nursing home. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always known for having a huge smile on her face! Lorraine passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the age of 89.
Lorraine is survived by her children; Phyllis (Gene) Boyle of Princeton; Linda (Bob) Lundergard of Worthington; LeRoy (Kathy) Ailts of Pillager; Richard Ailts of Little Canada; and Kathy (Duane) Burkard of Wilmont; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws; June Ailts, Faye Ailts and Eunice Ailts. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin in 2003; parents, Rens and Gertrude; and brothers Marvin & John.
