Little Red and the Pigs – What happens next?

By Meredith Stanton Vaselaar

That’s right, Little Red is on an adventure, and she just might find a wolf….and maybe some pigs!  Remember those old fairy tales?  Well, once again, the Treasure Village Theatre of Okoboji has put together a full-of-fun production, sure to entertain the kids and bring a chuckle to the adults in the audience.  All are welcome to attend this free program.  Infants, toddlers, and preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult or a responsible teen.

If you remember the “fractured fairy tales” from the past, you already have an idea of how this story could shape up.  It seems that our hapless wolf, named “Zared,” likes to surf, among other things.  He is getting just a little bit tired of everyone thinking that he is a bad kind of dude . . . although, considering his ego and attitude, it isn’t too hard to see why he has trouble making friends.  While on his surfing vacation, he meets Little Red Riding Hood – or “Lil Red” as she is known – and Zared Wolf just can’t seem to be a good friend.  Add the 3 Pigs into the mix, and things start getting just a little bit crazy!

This new production by Treasure Village Theatre of Okoboji is a fun and entertaining twist on two classic stories.  The players are a group of new and veteran college students who are fine-tuning their acting and production chops.  They have a director/coach/mentor who oversees the production.

The performance will be held in the Commons Area of the Adrian Elementary School, 515 Oklahoma Avenue, Adrian, MN, and is co-sponsored by the Adrian Branch Library and the Adrian Elementary School. This project is funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.  The program is FREE and Open to the Public!
