The 1973 film of the same title inspired this science fiction/thriller series.  Tune in Sunday, October 2nd at 9pm to see what it’s all about!

The Lismore community extends sympathy to the Luke & Jen Rahe family upon the passing of Jen’s father, Alan Dobesh of Yankton, SD.  Alan worked in the concrete construction business and loved softball, bowling, and golf in his spare time.   He was an avid Yankees fan who had a quick wit and great sense of humor.  He enjoyed playing pinochle and cribbage with his children and his grandchildren were the light of his life. Blessed be the memory of Alan Dobesh.

Deb Lutmer was joined by her sisters from Michigan, Oklahoma and Minnesota in Willmar on Saturday for the estate auction of their late sister, Vicki Dew.  Many other friends and family members came to the auction to buy mementos and visit with them.  A bittersweet day for the family.

Galen Krogman hit the road on his motorcycle last weekend, heading to Deadwood, SD for “Kool Deadwood Nights.” This event showcases classic cars, music, and fun and is similar to a big Sock Hop! There are parades and free concerts on Main Street featuring rock & roll history’s big name entertainers. Galen continued riding his bike into Colorado.  Ruth met up with him on Thursday for the 10th Annual Mustang Rally in Sturgis. What a great way to celebrate the end of summer!

It was a busy end of August for the Bruce & Brenda Loosbrock family!  They travelled to Lenexa, KS for the wedding of their son, Stephen Loosbrock and Bethany Smith at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on August 27.  A beautiful wedding with a grand reception made for a perfect day.  Three days later, there was another perfect day!  The Loosbrock’s daughter Mary Jean and her husband Anthony Di Giovonni of Omaha, NE became the proud parents of little Gianna Marie on August 30.  Congratulations, Bruce & Brenda!  Lots of excitement for your whole family!

The Lutmer Boys came to the rescue again! Dave, Rick, and Bruce Lutmer pitched in to help finish a shingling project for Dave & Joyce (Lutmer) Kanten of rural Fulda.  Dave Kanten suffered a concussion as a result of a fall when he was shingling one of his buildings by himself.  It’s nice to have family you can count on.  Get well, Dave!

Former Lismore resident Dominic Wieneke has written, directed, and produced several films.  The Verne Drive In in Luverne will be hosting the Dancing Spider film festival on September 9 & 10 and two of Dominic’s short films will be shown. If you love horror movies,  “Casefile 293610” and “Death Rot” will keep you on the edge of your seat!  Dominic is the son of Diana Wieneke of North Mankato and the late Daryl Wieneke.

Vic McCann is now a resident at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. Keep your spirits up, Vic, and know that many friends are thinking of you!
