“When you donate blood, you help save lives. It’s one of the greatest gifts that you can give. It may only be a pint of blood for you, but for a patient in need it can mean the difference between life and death.” Mark your calendar for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, which will be in Lismore on Tuesday, July 5th at the Lismore Legion Hall starting at 2:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 6th at the Adrian High School.
Deb Lutmer and her sisters Carol Giroux, of Wheaton, Rita Drew of Charlevoix, MI, and Donna Dew of Edmond, OK gathered in their hometown of Browns Valley, MN to celebrate the town’s 150th anniversary. How’s this for a flashback: Fifty years ago the Dew family won the prize for the largest family who were all dressed alike. Their mother, the late Helen Dew, sewed long centennial dresses along with bonnets for each of the five girls (and herself) while the three men wore vests that were made of matching material. That was in 1966.
Vickie Leinen and her good friend, Ardella Malowitz of Luverne made their annual trek to Country Fest in Cadott, WI (near Chippewa Falls). They met up and camped with their friends from Wisconsin and Iowa. They enjoyed 80 & 90 degree temps. The gals encountered several other “locals” during the weekend of country music. This was the 30th anniversary of the music festival and Vickie has attended every one of them!
Rose Henriksen, formerly of Lismore and now residing in Adrian, scored her first hole in one at the Adrian Country Club last week. She scored her ace on hole number six while golfing with Jill Diekmann, Linda Hohn, Renae Bullerman, and Berta Wieneke. Rose was more than happy to treat all golfers to a free drink in celebration of the special occasion! Congratulations, Rose! Watch out, Wes…she’s half way to catching up to you!!
