The community of Lismore was stunned and saddened by the news that Nick Henning (son of Bridget and the late Tim Henning) had lost his life as the result of an accident on Hwy 50 late Tuesday afternoon in western North Dakota. Nick and his wife, Amanda (Lenz) made their home in Brandon with their three children, Wyatt, Taryn, and Brynn. He worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 426. He was so proud of his family and his life revolved around them. Our sympathy to his family, his mom and siblings, his grandparents, in-laws, and many friends. Nick’s funeral was held Monday, January 9th at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon. May he Rest in peace.
Marvin Kern celebrated his 80th birthday on January 8th with a surprise party hosted by his children at VanBully’s in Iona. Grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family and friends helped celebrate. It’s not too late to send a greeting to him at PO Box 123, Lismore, MN 56155.
Bruce and Lindsay Meyeraan of Luverne celebrated the 2-year birthday of their twins, Ava and Aiden, with a party on Saturday afternoon. Guests were the twins’ big brother, Ian; Grandpa Mark and Grandma Pam Luettel of Adrian; Grandpa Bob and Grandma Orene Meyeraan of Rushmore; Great-grandma Joyce Erdman of Lismore and Great Auntie Nancy Decker of Yale, SD. They enjoyed pizza & cupcakes–but most of all, they had fun watching the excited Ava and Aiden open their gifts. Happy birthday, Ava & Aiden!
Ct. St. Bernard #886, Catholic Daughters of the Americas will hold their annual baby shower at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 11th at 7:00 p.m. All baby items (unwrapped) and cash donations will be given to the Helping Hands Pregnancy Center in Worthington. A display will be set up in the back of St. Anthony’s church for donations to be dropped off until February 8th. Everyone is invited to participate.
Our Hollywood connection with local roots, Lisa (Engbarth) DeMaine, is the first assistant director for “Training Day”, a new CBS crime-thriller program. The series stars Bill Paxton and is a TV follow up to the 2001 film of the same title about a rookie cop partnered with a corrupt officer. The show airs on February 2, 2017. Lisa is the daughter of Lyle & Karyl Engbarth, formerly of Lismore.
There will be no American Legion Auxiliary meeting during the month of January
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Lismore on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. The blood supply is vulnerable particularly during the winter months due to inclement weather and seasonal illnesses. When you donate blood, you help save lives.
