   The descendants of Henry & Margaret Stoffel gathered for a reunion in Luverne July 20th. Representatives from Jack, Pete, Vincent, Robert, and Bill Stoffel, Rose (Stoffel) Higgins and Mary (Stoffel) Hoffer were there.  They came from Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire, Illinois, Arizona, Iowa and Minnesota.  It was a great day.

    Russell Johnson (formerly of Lismore) is recuperating at his home following open-heart surgery in Eau Claire, WI on July 27th. Get well wishes may be sent to him at his home: 1226 W. Marshall, Rice Lake, WI, 54868.  His wife, Janelle reports that he is doing well.

  August (Gus) Blasius was recently baptized at St. William’s Catholic Church in Aurora, SD. Godparents for Gus are Jada Blasius and Tony Lynn.   Waylon and Morgan Blasius hosted a celebration for their son with many family members present. Guests from the area included his grandparents Brad & Brenda Lynn, great-grandparents Bob & Jeannette Lynn and Vera Wick, Mitchell & Abby Lynn, Nate Lynn, Tony Lynn, and Lexie Rust.

      Guests in the home of Bruce & Brenda Loosbrock throughout the weekend were: Anthony & Mary Jean DiGiovanni and Nichole Loosbrock, all of Omaha, NE; Bethany Smith and her parents, Steven & Mary Beth Smith and Stephen Loosbrock, all of the Overland Park, KS; Earl & Nancy Wolf of St. Paul, Randy & Kay Wolf of Worthington, and Flory & Mary Ann Loosbrock.  Bruce gave the Smith’s a tour of Lismore and they were very impressed by how clean and well kept the town is. The gals attended the bridal shower in honor of Bethany on Saturday morning at the Lismore Legion. Stephen’s aunts, Kay and Nancy Wolf, Kathy Anderson and Von Masselink, hosted the shower. Stephen and Bethany received many fun and useful gifts while the guests marked them off on their “bingo” cards.  All enjoyed a delicious lunch.

    The time has come for Old Home Day sponsored by the Lismore Booster Club.  On the schedule is a beanbag tournament, outdoor movie, burger feed, bingo, train rides and “treasures in the sand”.  All events take place in or near the city park. There is sure to be fun for everyone.

    Enjoying the weekend “down on the farm” (the acreage near Leota owned by Bruce & Ruth Lutmer of Brooklyn Park) were Tim & Megan (Lutmer) Johnson and Matt and Amanda (Stich) Wimer and about ten of their friends from the metro area.  The Iowa attendees included Mary (Krogman) Hoffman and Amanda Hoffman. The group gathers each year to camp and spend time with family and friends.  They enjoyed breakfast in Edgerton (they missed having breakfast & drinks at the Lismore Bar), a wild game feed, trap shooting, slip ‘n slide, bean bag tourney, photo shoots, cribbage tournament, horseshoes, bon fires and just hanging out.  Locals joining in the some of the festivities included Tom & Mary Krogman, Dave & Joyce Kanten, Dave & Deb Lutmer, Patty & Mike Buysse, Jeff Lutmer and Cody Lutmer.

    It’s not too early to mark your calendar for the St. Anthony Church Bazaar and Auction that will be held on September 11th.  An excellent meal, fun games, unique auction items, and good company are a sure deal!

 The ladies of the First Presbyterian Church will host a salad supper on August 15 at the Lismore Legion Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m. All are invited.

   It’s a girl!! Congratulations to Andrew & Michele Wieneke on the birth of their first grandchild.  Hadley Carter was born July 20th to Carter & Morgan (Wieneke) Ziebarth of Flandreau, SD. The spoiling is sure to begin!

 Dylan Johnson, son of Patty & Mike Buysse, began schooling August 1st at the Northern Railroad Institute in Vancouver, WA.  Dylan was on active duty with the US Marines for the past four years.  Thank you, Dylan, for your service and best wishes as you continue your schooling.

   Olivia Weidert, a 2016 graduate of Adrian High School, returned home on Friday after spending the week as a camp counselor for CELEBRATE ME near Madison Lake, MN.  Celebrate Me Week is a week long, Christian-based self-esteem camp for students going into the 7th grade. Olivia worked with eight girls.  Olivia is the daughter of Jim & Kris Weidert and plans to attend Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

  July 30th marked the 3rd anniversary of the death of Earl Erdman.  Honoring his memory at a Mass at St. Anthony’s on Saturday evening were his wife, Joyce Erdman; his son, Rod & Ruth Erdman of Pipestone and their grandson, Rolland; and his daughters, Pam & Mark Luettel of Adrian and Gail Erdman of Primghar, IA.  Following Mass they dined at Countryside Inn where Mike Erdman joined them.

    Kaitlin Leinen and Colt Bullerman were married on Saturday, July 30th at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne.   Kaitlin is the daughter of Ken & Vickie Leinen of Lismore and Colt is the son of Mark & Renae Bullerman of Adrian.  It was a perfect day for a summer wedding and what a stunning bride and groom! Congratulations, Kait and Colt!

    Ladies that became very dear friends at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne while their husbands were residents were invited to their friend Betty Morrison’s 70th birthday on Sunday in Larchwood, IA. Those enjoying a great afternoon together were:  Joyce Erdman, Coletta Oertli, Mary Alice Lutmer, Fran Vos, Jo Boema, Joan Johnson, Audrey DePauw, Bonnie Larson, Gerry Jensen, and Janice Rieckman.
