   Laura Lorang graduated from the South Dakota State University, College of Nursing on Friday, August 12, 2016, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. This is her second Bachelor’s degree, which she completed in just one year through SDSU’s Accelerated Nursing Program. Making the trip to Brookings, SD, for the ceremony with Laura were her parents, Mark and Janine, of Lismore; brother, Nick, of Brookings; boyfriend Andrew Fodness, of Luverne; grandparents Al and Connie Kuehl, of Lismore; and aunt and uncle Becky and Dave Koehler, of Lewiston, ID. Laura will be employed as a Registered Nurse at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD.

     The ladies of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Lismore showcased an array of salads and sandwiches at their annual supper last Monday.  The food was great and the ladies usually have a comical Christian skit.  This year they forwent the skit but gave everyone a chance to win one of the centerpieces.  Pastor Tom closed the evening with a few remarks.

     Jerry & Mary Kellen hosted a celebration at their home last Tuesday evening in honor of Bob & Jamie LeBrun’s 50th wedding anniversary.  Other guests attending were Veryl & Avis Stoffel and Vicki Kohorst.

     The Lismore Fire & Rescue had a great turnout for their annual fundraiser on Saturday evening. You couldn’t go wrong with “all-you-can-eat” BBQ Pork or Turkey!  The soft-serve ice cream is always a hit with the young and the old.  If you were lucky enough to win a prize at the event, that was an extra bonus! Cliff Altman announced that Steven Wieneke would be retiring from the department with 31 years of service. Jeff Diekmann was recognized for over 30 years with the department as well.  Credited with over 25 years of service are: Jim Weidert, Bill Loonan, Tom Diekmann, and Cliff Altman.   Dedicating over 20 years to the department are Ken Leinen, Troy Veld, Jim Vanderlinden, and Jeff Lutmer. Having over 10 but less than 20 years of service are: Larry Koehne, Steve Lais, Dan Diekmann, Matt Loosbrock, and Lee Henning. Thank you to all Fire & Rescue personnel for your service! You are appreciated.

  It’s less than a month away for the St. Anthony Church Bazaar and Auction on September 11th.  An excellent meal, fun games, unique auction items, and good company are a sure deal!  Descendants of the Tom & Lucy Hebig family gathered at the Lismore Shelter house on Saturday for a potluck picnic. Family members took turns sharing memories, telling tales, and reminiscing.  Good food and good memories brought about many smiles throughout the day.

   Members of the First Presbyterian Church of Lismore and Edgerton had a beautiful day and a full house for their Sunday service in the Park and potluck dinner.

   A baby shower was held Sunday afternoon in the home of Keith and Emily Luettel of Minnetoka, guests were Keith’s mom Pam Luettel, Adrian, Emily’s mom Dianna Zimmerli from Wabasso, Emily’s grandma from Minneapolis, Keith’s grandma Joyce Erdman Lismore, Lindsay Meyeraan Luverne, Tara and Ainsley Luettel Medford, and other relatives and friends, they received many nice and useful gifts their baby is due in October.
