Lismore News 9-19-18

Lismore native Collin Kemper (son of Chris and Mindy) was interviewed in a recent KELO TV segment titled “A Different Kind of Course Work”.   Collin, a turf management major at Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls, SD spent the summer doing an internship with the Boston Red Sox.  He is using that knowledge to help ready the golf course for the Sanford International which begins this week.  Collin and several others are working long hours to ensure the course is in tip top shape for each round of play.

Bruce and Brenda Loosbrock were recent weekend guests in the home of their son, Stephen and Bethany Loosbrock and Dominick, near Kansas City, KS. Other guests included Austin and Nichole Quebedeaux of Des Moines, IA. They attended the Kansas City Cigar Fest—Bruce’s Christmas gift from his family—and had a great time.

What we’ve all been waiting for!  The Lismore Bar & Grill is open for business, starting on Monday, September 17th.  Be sure to stop in and meet the new manager and see what they have to offer for daily meal specials.  It’s so nice to have a place to meet friends, grab a drink, and have a bite to eat!

Kaia Wieneke, daughter of Darin Wieneke and Maria Vu of St. Paul and granddaughter of Frank and Debby Wieneke won 1st place at the Nativity County Fair baking contest for her Dark Chocolate Turtle Brownies.  Her mother only helped 7-year old Kaia with reading the instructions and getting the pan in/out of the oven.  Congratulations Kaia…the brownies sound delicious!!

Dillon John was crowned Homecoming King at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.  Dillon is senior in the mechanical engineering program.  His parents, Jim and Shelley, and siblings, Damon and Cheyenna were in Rapid City, SD for the weekend events. Congratulations Dillon!

The American Legion Auxiliary will have their first meeting of the 2018-2019 year on September 19th beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Serving lunch will be Joyce Erdman and Chris Rokeh will provide Bingo prizes.  The group is calling out for new members. Membership eligibility is based on being a mother, wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter or grandmother of an American Legion member, the same relation to a deceased veteran serving in selected conflicts or a female veteran serving in those same conflicts. Eligibility also applies to step-relatives. Anyone interested and eligible should contact Mary Ann Loosbrock.
