Using the original shovels that dug Lismore’s first phone lines in 1907, the telephone company officially broke ground for its project of creating a fiber/wireless network for the county.  Fiber will not be coming to towns that are served by multiple cable companies. Before the end of the year, every home in Wilmont should be connected. Distributed through five towers, wireless coverage will be available to many areas where there is none at present. This project was made possible by the Nobles Economic Network and the Blandin Foundation.  Lismore received a 2.94 million dollar grant as a result of a study demonstrating a need for internet access for rural areas. Lismore Telephone continues to make great strides in technology!

Jerry & Mary Kellen hosted lunch for Fr. Rick Colletti on Tuesday.  Fr. Colletti enjoyed viewing the basement train setup and the Kellen’s new “garden” layout recently erected outdoors.  They all enjoyed a slice of homemade rhubarb pie ala mode to top off the afternoon.

What a great story in the Worthington Globe about Adrian Boy Scout Troop 32.  They traveled to Bissett, Manitoba in Canada to embark on a journey of “roughing it”. For 8 days in July, the six scouts along with Scoutmaster Miki Loosbrock, another parent, and a local guide canoed, fished, and camped in the heart of Atikaki Provincial Park and Woodland Caribou Provincial Park. They traveled over 58 miles, beginning in the early morning and getting to their next camp by late afternoon.  They carried their own canoes, set up their own tents, and cooked supper as well. The scouts spend two years planning the trip. Many fundraisers and a generous check from the Worthington Area Foundation helped  the troop raise the money to make the trip. Mason Wieneke, son of Andy & Michele, was one of the scouts to complete this adventure!

Jill Rokeh and Dillon Miles were married at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon on Friday, July 21st.  Lismore native Fr.
