Ruth Lorang returned Wednesday, August 1st from her family’s summer gathering. The LAG (Lorang Annual Getaway) began in August 2003, to celebrate Marv and Ruth’s 40th wedding anniversary. It has become the Lorang’s annual summer get-together and this year marks 15 years. The location they have been going to since 2008, is a lake home known as Emerald Hideaway located on Lake Elizabeth, near Atwater and Willmar, MN. Boating, skiing, knee-boarding, tubing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, relaxing in the sun, games, campfires, and lots of eating are enjoyed every summer! In attendance from the Lorangs were: Ruth Lorang, Lismore, MN; Tom, Molly, and Keegan Lorang, Morton, MN; Kevin, Yigliola and John Lorang, Minneapolis, MN; Todd, Susan, Noah, Isaac, and Grace Roerig, Sioux City, IA; Lynn, Caleb, and Asha Dearey, Durango, CO; and Ivan, Jean, Owen, Lucy, Phoebe, Hazel and Milo Vargas, Dell Rapids, SD. In addition to time at the lake, the family was also able to travel to nearby Franklin, MN on Friday evening to see granddaughter Kaitlyn Lorang, daughter of Tom and Molly, participate in the Miss Franklin pageant as part of their city Catfish Derby Days summer celebration.
A nice crowd attended the salad supper hosted by the First Presbyterian Church of Lismore on Monday, August 6th. Guests were seated at tables with bright colored tablecloths and napkins, along with floral centerpieces. Kathy Knips gave the opening prayer. The salads were plentiful and delicious; served alongside ham and turkey sandwiches. Following supper, the ladies performed a skit titled, “With Friends Like These”– which focused on depression, compassion, and listening. Kathy Altman gave the closing prayer and thanked everyone for coming. It was a delightful evening of faith, fun, and fellowship!
Dave Lutmer and Bruce Lutmer spent a few days in the home of their brother, Rick & Linda Lutmer, in Omaha, NE. Dave & Bruce offered their help to Rick while they worked together on an addition to a home in the Omaha area.
Avis Stoffel will celebrate her 80th birthday on August 16th. The family has requested a card shower. Her address is 16827 Cory Avenue, Lismore, MN. Happy Birthday, Avis!
Joyce Erdman and her daughter, Gail Erdman of Primghar; IA spent several days last week at the home of Gail’s daughter, Danielle and Elliot Apland in Chester; SD. Great-grandma Joyce and Grandma Gail stayed with Peyton, Abbie, Callie, and Jewel while their parents went on cycle trip. Games and fun in the sun kept everyone entertained.
It’s not too early to mark your calendar for the St. Anthony Church Bazaar and Auction that will be held on September 9th. An excellent meal, fun games, unique auction items, and good company are a sure deal!
