Lismore News 4-5-17

Were you able to read the great story about Bill Loonan, which was featured in the Worthington Daily Globe’s “Hometown Heroes” special insert last weekend?  Bill has been the general manager of the Lismore Cooperative Telephone Company since 1989 and continues the history of innovation that began in 1907.  What began as a simple telephone connection evolved into cell phones, and recently fiber optic cable was installed in our area.  That wireless network will eventually bring high speed internet to the entire county. Construction on the towers will begin this summer.  Bill has seen lots of changes throughout the years. There is bound to be more changes as Lismore Telephone continues to move forward and keep up with new technology.  Pretty amazing when you think that it all started with four farmers wanting to talk to each other 110 years ago!

Congratulations to Megan Sauer, daughter of Barry & Kerry of rural Lismore on her Senior Artist Exhibition reception to be held on Thursday, April 6th at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato.  The exhibition is called EAT. PRAY. DESIGN.

Deb Lutmer accompanied her sister-in-law Ruth Lutmer of Brooklyn Park to a surprise retirement party for Ed Hoffman in Sioux City, IA on Saturday evening. Ed’s wife Mary and daughter Amanda planned the party and many family and friends were there to wish him well.  Gerald & Sheryl Kottmann, formerly of Lismore and now living in Hubbardston, MA, probably travelled the farthest to surprise Ed.  Congratulations on your retirement, Ed…and happy belated birthday!

The Easter Bunny is coming to Lismore on Saturday, April 15th at the Lismore Park and Lismore Fire Hall. Weather permitting there will be an Easter Egg Hunt in the city park at 10:00 am.  At 10:30, the Easter Bunny will make his way to the Fire Hall where he will hand out some candy and you can have your picture taken with him.
