Lismore News 3-7

The community extends sympathy to the Luke & Jen Rahe family on the death of Jen’s mother, Cheryl Dobesh. Cheryl died Friday, February 23, 2018, following a brief illness.  Cheryl made her home in Elkton, SD and worked at Daktronics Inc. for thirty years.  She loved being a mother and grandmother.  An active church member, she was a blessing to many people.  Gardening, watching old time westerns, and Civil War history brought her much happiness, but nothing compared to watching her grandsons play sports and her granddaughter dance ballet.  God bless the memory of Cheryl Dobesh.

Andrew & Michelle Wieneke have returned from an eight day trip to Rome, Italy. The Wieneke’s went to see their youngest daughter, McKenzie who is a nanny for a wonderful Italian family.  She is caring for four small children until April. McKenzie had a couple of days off, so they rented a car and drove down the Amalfi Coast for the weekend.  Returning to Rome, they visited the Vatican Basilica, St. Peter’s Square, the Coliseum, and Trevi Fountain.  They also took the train to San Marcella to the beach.  The couple did a lot of walking; one day they walked eleven miles! It was not so much about taking a vacation but more about connecting with their daughter.  The sightseeing was a bonus.  Andrew & Michelle continue to be amazed with McKenzie’s spirit of adventure and how she embraces new experiences.

Joyce Erdman was busy celebrating throughout the days leading up to and including her actual birthday on Saturday, March 3.  On Wednesday, her daughter Peggy & Mark Meyer of Rushmore enjoyed noon dinner at Winter’s Bar and visiting with Joyce in her home. Joyce spent Friday-Sunday with her daughter Gail Erdman of Primghar, IA.  They traveled to Chester, SD to spend the weekend at her granddaughter’s home, Danielle and Elliot Apland and family. Joyce and Gail spent time with the little ones while their parents were gone.  They all had a fun time celebrating Great-Grandma Joyce’s birthday!

March is “Food Share” month in Minnesota. The “food fight” competition between the Catholic Daughters and the Knights of Columbus is in full swing, but will wrap up this weekend. Choose which organization you’d like to support and place your non-perishable food items, personal care items, or household items in the respective box at St. Anthony’s.  Remember EVERYONE wins—all items collected will benefit the local food shelves.  An evening of fun, food, and fellowship will conclude the competition.
