Marv & Pearl Wieneke attended the Breeders Halter Futurity in Des Moines, Iowa in September. They showed four horses and did quite well with all of them. The competition was nationwide and top quality. Former NFL quarterback/Co-host of Fox NFL Sunday, Terry Bradshaw, was also there showing his horse. The Wieneke’s visited with him and Bradshaw purchased their special two-year old filly! Marv & Pearl wished the Bradshaw’s the best of luck and commented that Terry & Tammy are very friendly people.
Congratulations to Alexia Kemper, daughter of Chris & Mindy, on being crowned 2017 Adrian High School Homecoming Queen. Landon Rogers, son of Lance Rogers of Reading and Tami Rogers of Adrian is this year’s King. Coronation was held on Monday night and kicked off a week of fun activities for AHS students.
Bruce & Brenda Loosbrock attended the baptism of their grandson, Dominic Loosbrock, in Roeland Park, KS on September 24th. Dominic is the son of Stephen & Bethany Loosbrock. The baby’s Godparents are Ian & Pauline Taylor, college friends of the Loosbrocks.
Patty & Mike Buysse returned recently from a trip to Spartanburg, South Carolina where they visited in the home of Mike’s brother Ron & Brenda. Their sister & brother-in-law Ann & Art Lonneman of Luverne met them there for lots of sightseeing and family time together.
Congratulations to Brandon Weidert & Kaitlyn Kline who were married at St. Anthony Church on Saturday, September 23rd. Brandon is the son of Jeff & Jan Weidert and Kaitlyn is the daughter of Ted & Tammi Mertz and Brad Kline, all of Anamoose, ND. A second reception was held on Saturday, September 30th at the Eagles in Harvey, ND. The newlyweds will make their home in Richardton, ND.
Ct. St. Bernard #886 will lead the Rosary on Wednesday nights during the month of October beginning on October 4th. Everyone is invited to come pray with them at 6:30 p.m. at St. Anthony’s.
The Catholic Daughters of Ct. Madonna #839, Ct. St. Bernard #886 and Ct. Santa Maria #247 and Habitat for Humanity have launched a partnership to support efforts to build homes for families in need. Each year, a house is built within the state of Minnesota with an estimated annual grant of $10,000. This year’s home will be built in Owatonna. The funding of this Catholic Daughter grant is made possible by the annual Gummi Bear fundraising project. Members of these courts will be handing out Gummi Bears after Mass on Saturday, October 14th and Sunday October 15th. Donations are appreciated.
Deb Lutmer enjoyed dinner with her sister-in- law, Barb (Brodeen) Lutmer, on Saturday evening in Sioux Falls. Barb had spent a couple of days in Avon, SD for her high school class reunion. She was on an early morning flight to her home in Louisville, KY.
Dave & Marge Henning of Waterville met Jack & Nancy Brake at Ottertail and the four of them participated in the Upper Minnesota River “Meandering Art Crawl”. The “crawl” is a self-guided tour featuring 45 local artist studios between Granite Falls and Ortonville. The Hennings and Brakes enjoyed the time together as well as connecting with local history, culture, and landscape. They recommend the crawl to anyone looking for a fun and interesting weekend. Sounds like a fun time!
The Lismore CCW along with the Diocese of Winona and Catholic Charities is supporting the Baby Bottle Campaign. Donations from this campaign assist women to choose adoption or parenting rather than abortion. Baby bottles are available in the back of St. Anthony Church. It is asked that they be filled with your spare change and returned later this month.
