Lismore News 1-2-19

While many of her family and friends have retired, former rural Lismore resident Carol Wieneke (Mrs. Jerome) continues to do what she loves…being a nurse. According to the Sanford Health News website, Carol is the second most tenured active employee and the most tenured active nursing employee at Sanford Health. She has been caring for patients for 55 years! Carol is proud to have started the triage program at the Luverne clinic. Today, that program is still in place and used as a model for other clinics. Carol is very thankful for her supportive family and believes God will continue to guide her as to how long she remains in the nursing field.  Congratulations, Carol. You are amazing!!

Christmas Eve at St. Anthony’s…there are many words that could describe the church decorations, the Christmas message and the music, but BEAUTIFUL seems to sum it up.  Father Rick Colletti celebrated another memorable Christmas Eve Mass.  Cantors filled the church with beautiful Christmas music before Mass began, complete with Nick Lorang on the trumpet. Cate Koehne sang her version of “Mary, Did You Know?” that was especially moving.  Flute music was provided by seventh grader Ella Wempen of Adrian, which was a wonderful addition to the Mass.  Mark Loosbrock sang “O Holy Night”, which has become a St. Anthony Christmas tradition. Fr. Colletti commented on the decorations and music and gave praise and thanks to all of those involved in the liturgy. He is so thankful to be in a parish cluster with so many helping hands.  It was such a blessing to have a Christmas Eve Mass in our beautiful church!

Celebrating Christmas with Marv & Pearl Wieneke were their daughters and their families: Wendy & John Graff of Sioux Falls, SD; Vickie & Kevin and Mackenzie & Jaydah of Cottage Grove and Terri & Keith Vollink and Mason, Emery & Harper of Doon, IA.

What better way to spread holiday cheer than to carol at the homes of friends, neighbors and co-workers.  Several local carolers turned out Friday night to do just that.  The music was well received and it was a fun way to get in the Christmas spirit.  They all gathered at the Lismore Bar for snacks and appetizers to end the evening.

Guests in the Frank & Debby Wieneke home over the holidays were: Darin Wieneke and his wife Dr. Maria Vu and Kaia and Adrian of St. Paul; Luke & Tracy Sursely of Sioux City, IA; Tim Lutmer and his friend, Tammy of Alexandria; and Lori Delano and Doug Woolridge of Annandale. Darin and family returned to their home to spend Christmas Eve and morning in their home while the others enjoyed Christmas Eve at the Legion Hall with other Lutmer families from the local area.

Joyce Erdman and her son, Mike Erdman of Leota enjoyed homemade pizza prepared by her daughter, Pam Luettel (and Mark) before they all attended the 8:00PM Christmas Eve Mass at St. Anthony.  On Christmas Day, Joyce hosted noon dinner for: Rod and Ruth Erdman of Pipestone; Pam and Mark Luettel of Adrian; Jennifer Luettel of Mankato; Peggy & Mark Meyer of Rushmore; Alyssa Meyer and Logan Neyens of Wilmont; Danielle and Elliot Apland and Peyton, Abbie, Callie, and Jewel of Chester, SD; Mike Erdman of Leota; Megan Erdman of Adrian; Laura and Colin Schickling of Ellsworth and Amber Erdman of Lismore.
