Our community has been hard hit with many deaths lately. We all need to remember how important our families are and to cherish each and every day we have with one another.
Longtime resident Jim Reisdorfer died on September 4th at the age of 91. He and Angeline enjoyed 71 years together; farming near Lismore where they raised their five children. Jim was one of the first farmers in the area to start soil conservation and received special recognition. Jim served in the National Guard and was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where he was one of the first members of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife and four children, Randy, Ron, Rick, and Renee and their families. Blessed be his memory.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Mary Buus of Luverne, formerly of Lismore. Mary died Sept. 3rd at the age of 97. Mary and her husband, Ray, farmed in Nobles County most of their lives. Our community lost one of its finest businessmen, Darwin Veld, this past week. Darwin died Sept. 10th at the age of 72. Following a tour in Vietnam, college, and work experience, Darwin and his wife, Lois purchased the lumberyard and made their home in Lismore. Darwin served as a leader in many organizations.
