Roree Kathryn Erdman, daughter of Randy & Marissa Erdman, celebrated her first birthday at her home In Lake Wilson on Sunday afternoon. Special guests at Roree’s party included her brother, Roland, her grandparents Kathy & Jerry Wolfgram of Champlain and Rod & Ruth Erdman of Pipestone, and her great-grandmothers, Yvonne Leonard of Champlain and Joyce Erdman of Lismore. Other relatives and friends enjoyed supper, watching Roree open her gifts, and the excitement of the birthday girl eating her first birthday cake!
Tom & Mary Krogman attended the wedding of Amanda Hoffman & Greg Ruckdaschel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on the campus of Iowa State University in Iowa City. Fr. David Krogman officiated.
Amanda is the daughter of Ed and Mary (Krogman) Hoffman of Sioux City, IA. Congratulations to the newlyweds.
Lismore Cooperative Telephone Company held their annual stockholders meeting on Wednesday, April 18th despite the inclement weather. President Darwin Veld presided. Mark Loosbrock, Brad Lynn, and Ken Leinen were re-elected as Directors. General Manager Bill Loonan gave a synopsis of the past year stating that the cell phone sales and service keeps them busy. The store was recognized for Standard of Excellence in Outstanding Customer Service. They still continue to expand the Lismore Wireless Internet Service. Keeping them busy is the installations of Broadband internet. The project entails distributing internet through
the wireless towers to give unlimited bandwidth throughout Nobles County. The co-op is installing over 82 miles of fiber optic cable. Wilmont and Leota will be built out completely with fiber as well as the businesses and homes along the fiber transport route. The telephone company continues to stay abreast of the technology changes. In closing, both Darwin and Bill stated that the goal of the company is and always has been to provide the best customer service and offer the best rates for their patrons.
National Poppy Day is just a little over a month away – May 25 this year! Since the 1920s, American Legion Auxiliary members have distributed millions of poppies annually across the country in exchange for donations that go directly to assist veterans, military, and their families in need. Learn more about the historic symbolism of the bright red poppy here. The ladies will be accepting donations in the month of May and will have the poppies available at the smelt fry on May 5th.

Vickie Leinen, her daughter Kait Bullerman, and little Urijah traveled to Rochester for the weekend. Urijah met his great-grandfather, Art Brandt for the first time. Jenn & Josh Gehloff and children Xxander & Kylar of St. Charles joined them for a four-generation picture.
