A farewell open house for Father David Krogman will be held at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon, SD on Friday, January 31st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Father David will begin his full-time duties as Chaplain at Avera McKennan Hospital on February 5th.
Brenda Loosbrock and her daughter, Nichole Quebedeaux returned from a road trip visiting various cities in North and South Carolina, along with a stop in Nashville, TN. Brenda and her late husband Bruce, were avid history buffs and this trip was one that Bruce had always wanted to do. The gals enjoyed beautiful weather and saw many of the sights those states have to offer.
Joyce Erdman and her son and his wife, Rod and Ruth Erdman of Pipestone, escaped the Minnesota winter and spent several days last week with Joyce’s brother, Gary and Connie Hoffer, at their winter home in The Villages, Florida. They did lots of sightseeing and visiting. A great time for everyone!!
Ct. St. Bernard #886, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, is sponsoring a baby shower! They have a display set up in the back of St. Kilian’s church for donations that will be given to the Helping Hands Pregnancy Center in Worthington. When shopping for your own children or grandchildren, purchase a little something extra for this worthwhile cause! Donations will be collected until February 8th. Everyone is invited to participate with unwrapped gifts (clothes, diapers, baby items) or a cash donation.
Bob and Jamie LeBrun hosted a belated Christmas gathering at their home over the weekend. They had a full house with their whole family except one granddaughter and her husband that were unable to attend.
The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Minnesota offers various scholarships to students throughout Minnesota. Scholarships are available to high school seniors or college students seeking further education. There are also Health Care Scholarships and Non-traditional Scholarships for ALA members. Tom, Jeff, and Adam Diekmann, Luke Rahe and Jim Weidert enjoyed their annual fishing trip to Leech Lake January 9-12th. They also visited with Mike Diekmann and his sons. They reported a successful weekend of fishing.
The community offers sympathy to the family of Lydia Kemper who died on Sunday, January 5th at the age of 88. Lydia and her husband, Dale, have roots in Lismore but most recently lived in Sibley, IA. Lydia enjoyed bird watching and nature itself, along with cooking and needlepoint. She is survived by her husband; two step daughters, Barbara and Annette; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Blessed be her memory.
Noah Charles Gengler, son of Kevin and Jennifer, was baptized on Sunday, January 26th at the St. Adrian Catholic Church with Father Colletti officiating. Noah’s Godparents are Sarah Gengler and Allen Gengler. Grandparents are Brian and Joyce Gengler of rural Adrian and Patty and Randy Geister of Prior Lake. Many guests, including Noah’s older siblings, Matthew and Emma, gathered at their home for Sunday dinner.
Dave Lutmer enjoyed a few days of decent ice fishing “ up north”. His overnight accommodations were provided by Bruce and Ruth Lutmer in Brooklyn Park.
FYI: Members of the St. Adrian Parish Cluster are being warned of recent scams where the scammers troll the church bulletins for information and phone numbers, then they send fake text messages or emails asking for gift cards or money. Be aware that this has happened in other parishes of the diocese and DO NOT RESPOND.
Joyce Erdman helped her great-grandson Montana celebrate his 13th Birthday with Sunday supper at Pizza Ranch in Luverne. Montana is the son of Jessica and Bob Slinger of Adrian. Joining the celebration were his brother, Ezekiel and sister ,Lettie; Grandma Glenda Lancaster of Rushmore; Grandpa Mike Erdman and his friend, Brenda Snedeker of Bowden, IA: Grandma Lori Mejia of Worthington; Megan Erdman and friend, Ricardo and Laura Schickling, all of Ellsworth; Amber Erdman and her son, Christian and Allen Simpson, all of Lismore.
