Library Update…

Funds raised thus far: $70,710

Goal:  $80,000

The work on the library building should begin this week.  We are VERY excited to have a contractor from Nobles county working on the building.

Last week, Director Clint Wolthuizen was busy at both sites – the New Vision Coop site, where the Library will be during the renovation – and the library building itself, measuring and measuring to make sure there will be the proper number of shelves to hold our collection of 10,000 items.  He talked to me about lineal feet, and shelf sizes and width and depth….gotta be honest – that sounded like more measuring than I would ever want to do.

So, I asked about the bottom line – “will the shelving work in the space we have.” The resounding answer was, “YES!”  We poured over the building plan, including the placement of the shelves, and I’d say things are looking good.  Clint did mention that some of the shelves will need to be custom fitted – which we had known was a possibility.

“Have we raised enough money for the shelves, and all the other furnishings (tables, chairs, desks, children’s area, displays, etc.)?” I asked, as I am anxious about that.  He feels that we might cover the materials costs – although having more of a cushion for the custom work, such as fitting some of the shelves into the space, will cover us if need be.

So, like a broken record, I am still hoping we can reach our goal of $80,000.

Remember these important facts:  ALL the money that is raised will be used only at the Adrian Branch Library;   anyone making a donation can get their name on the Library Wall of Honor, and can also add the names of deceased loved ones (memorials), or add tributes (for people, organizations, etc.).  Please consider making a donation.

We have had a few alumni add tributes to their graduating class.

We have had a few parents add the names of their children as tributes; and wouldn’t it be fun for grandchildren to visit and find their names on the Wall of Honor at the Library?

Please consider making a donation today.  It is greatly appreciated!
