Funds raised so far: $68,467
Goal: $80,000
You should stop by the Library in the next week or so. There is not much time left before we have everything moved to the New Vision Co-op Building. We plan to be up and running from there soon. In the meantime, we are still open at our current location.
Next week will be exciting, because we will be looking at all of the bids. Once it is determined who will do what work (there are a lot of stages to the project), it is hoped that things can get on their way!
I had not realized that this kind of project takes this much time to set up and implement. This has been a big learning process for me and while I hope I never have to work on this kind of thing again, it has not been all bad!
You know what? As the 2016 year ended, I found myself getting a little bit tired. Could be old age creeping up on me (that might have been suggested on a few occasions), it could be just thinking about how much work it is to move out of a space (great time for purging, eh?), and, I have to admit, working on this project has had its moments of worry.
I don’t know about you, but as for me, I will be glad – and relieved – when the fundraising portion will be complete. Are you tired of me asking for donations? Me, too! I am constantly amazed, however, at how many donations all of you people out there – and businesses, and organizations – having given toward this project. I also need to mention all of the volunteers who have helped, and all the hours they have put in to this project. Thank you!
The money that has been raised will be spent to furnish the inside of the library with (moveable things such as) shelves, tables, chairs, desks, display units, children’s area, and more. I assure you the donations will be spent wisely, and good, solid, stand-up-to-the-passage-of-time kind of furnishings. This is a legacy for us, as well as the area children, and grandchildren. Future generations will benefit from a space that is more suited to the twenty-first century and all that it brings.
And the names – the names of individuals, businesses, organizations, along with the names of loved ones who are gone, and those who remain with us. A donation is all you need to do to get your name on the Library Wall of Honor.
Please consider making a donation today or, as quite a few people have done, feel free to add to what you have already generously given. ALL donations are tax-deductible! (Feel free to start the New Year by adding a tax-exempt donation for 2017!)
