Last Tuesday, my boss and Nobles County Library Director, Clint Wolthuizen, attended the Nobles County Commissioners meeting in Worthington.  The Adrian Branch Library renovation project was discussed and the County Commissioners voted to accept a bid by Chick’s Building, LLC, Adrian, to install and attic ventilation system in the Library, plus the cost to install a humidistat.  The Commissioners also voted to accept a bid to install insulation in the Library roof.  The third item that the Commissioners approved was the purchasing of an external bookdrop for the Library.

Most importantly, the Commissioners approved plans for the renovation of the Adrian Branch Library, which allows us to move forward and release requests for proposals (RFP) for the improvements (repairs/renovation/upgrades) for the building.  Up to this point, all the preliminary proposals were accepted, which is why we have been able to have the architects work on the proposal, have the vents in the floor filled, etc.  As with all things government related – all of this takes time and certain procedures.

In a nutshell, this means that the actual work on the building itself will begin after the new year and, hopefully, by the end of January or early February.

Of course,   I   wanted it completed by, I don’t know, YESTERDAY, but I am just thrilled that all of the hard work done by Clint has brought about this much-needed renovation.  At last week’s meeting, I gave the commissioners an update on the fundraising for the furnishings of the Library.  Hopefully, the funds will be raised before the work begins in order for us to purchase the items that are needed, so they will be ready to be installed in the building once the work is completed.  These items include the shelving (the biggest cost), desks, chairs, displays, children’s area, etc.
