Library Sign has changed

By Meredith Stanton Vaselaar

The Adrian Branch Library is OPEN for business, SIX DAYS A WEEK.

In the past, we used to say, “If the outside light in on, we are open.”  It was sort of a “Motel 6” idea.  Well, then we renovated and all of the Library lights are on auto-pilot.

The outdoor light comes on only as the sun goes down.  That, it seems, has been cause for a lot of confusion.  So often I hear, “when with the Library re-open?”  It re-opened on July 14, but it seems I haven’t been doing a good enough job of getting the word out – and part of the issue is people seeing the outside light off, so they think the Library is closed, when, in fact, the Library is back to its normal hours – just not its past lighting situation.

We are working on remedying the issue and have purchased a neon lighted OPEN sign.  We also, for the moment, have a bright green sign near the door, that also indicates when we are open.  (As people become used to the neon OPEN sign, we will stop using the bright green sign.)

So – YES, the Library IS open!

Mondays through Fridays the Library opens at 12:00 noon.  On Mondays and Thursdays, the Library is open until 7:00 p.m.; on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the Library is open until 5:00 p.m.  The Library is open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
