ELLSWORTH PUBLIC SCHOOL REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

School Library  Ellsworth, Minnesota

Monday, September 19, 2016

    Chairman Schilling called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. A roll call revealed all members present except Mike Werner. The Board of Education opened the meeting by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. 

    Staff present:  John Willey, John Widvey, Darcey Groen, Judy Huisman, James Jarvie, and Gary Swanson.

    Visitors present Korey Meester, Dawn Meester, and Becca Dreesen.

    A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Kruse to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on August 22, 2016. Motion carried.

    The Board of Education reviewed the Student Activity Fund.

    Becca Dreesen reported on the following items for EPTO: Open House, EPTO Committees, & Fundraisers. The EPTO will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

    Mr. Willey’s report included information on student count, One to One Initiatives, copy machine and the school website.  Mr. Willey had the board watch a couple videos on technology.

    A discussion took place regarding sports.

    The Board of Education reviewed the Treasurer’s Report. A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Boltjes to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.

    A motion was made by Kruse and seconded by Boyenga to approve the bills.  Motion carried.

    Mr. Widvey presented the proposed 2016 levy for taxes payable in 2017 as the maximum for approval.  A motion was made by Schilling and seconded by Kruse to approve the proposed 2016 levy for taxes payable in 2017 of the maximum levy.  Motion carried.

    Mr. Willey presented a list of fundraisers for the 2016-2017 school year. A motion was made by Kruse and seconded by Boltjes to approve the fundraisers as presented. Motion carried.

    Mr. Willey presented the following items for buildings and grounds: bus inspection, flooring, & broken windows.

    There being no further business Chairman Cliff Schilling called for a motion to adjourn.  A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Boltjes to adjourn.  Motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
