ELLSWORTH PUBLIC SCHOOL REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

Chairman Schilling called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. A roll call revealed all members present. The Board of Education opened the meeting by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Staff present: John Willey, John Widvey, Darcey Groen, Kristi Groth & Jen Huisman.
Visitors present: Lindsay Jenniges & Randy Buntjer.
A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Kruse to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on September 19, 2016. Motion carried.
The Board of Education reviewed the Student Activity Fund.
Becca Dreesen reported on the following items for EPTO: T-shirt orders and March 11 will be an Alumni Basketball game.
Mr. Willey’s report included information on student count, One to One Initiatives, Student Leadership, music concert dates, CTE meeting, Paras riding bus routes, a new school webpage, & the fiscal year end audit will be presented at the November board meeting.
Mr. Willey presented information on a Veteran’s Day program to be presented on November 11 at 10:00 a.m.
The Board of Education reviewed the Treasurer’s Report. A motion was made by Kruse and seconded by Goedken to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Boyenga to approve the bills. Motion carried.
Mr. Willey presented information on the policy for the MN State High School League voting. They need to have a school board vote on adding or not adding a Superintendent Representative to the MSHSL Board. A motion was made by Goedken and seconded by Werner to add a Superintendent Representative to the MSHSL Board. Motion carried.
Mr. Willey presented a contract with Mike Palm as Girls Basketball Coach for the 2016-2017 school year. A motion was made by Boltjes and seconded by Werner to approve the contract with Mike Palm as Girls Basketball Coach. A roll call vote was taken. Voting yes: Schilling, Werner, Boyenga, Kruse, Boltjes & Goedken. Voting no: None. Motion carried.
Mr. Willey presented information on new playground equipment. The school is still trying to raise funds for this project.
Mr. Widvey suggested setting a date to canvass ballots following the election. The Board will meet on Thursday, Nov. 10th at 7:30 a.m. to canvass ballots.
There being no further business, Chairman Cliff Schilling called for a motion to adjourn. A motion was made by Boltjes and seconded by Goedken to adjourn. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
