Lance Bryan Meyeraan (Buffington) came into the world on August 27, 2017 and was greeted by his parents, Dustin Meyeraan and SamanthaJo Buffington at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Lance and his twin brother, Lester were both born warriors battling congenital heart defects. Lance took on the persona of Batman and fought through four open heart surgeries on September 13, November 4, December 27, and lastly March 7. He was baptized on March 10 at the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha. Lance finished his fight and passed away peacefully in his daddy’s arms on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the age of 6 months and 11 days.
Lance gave the doctors and nurses that cared for him a run for their money, he just had to keep them on their toes. He was affectionately nicknamed “Chunky Monkey” by his daddy and was always surrounded with love. His mommy made sure he knew how deeply adored he was by often reminding him, “I love you, Lance.” Though he was only with us a short time, Lance touched many lives.
Lance will always be remembered by his parents Dustin and Samantha Jo of Sheldon, Iowa; brother, Lester “Superman”; grandparents, Kevin and Nichelle Buffington, Tom Miller, and Tammy Henry; aunts and uncles, Devon Buffington and his fiancé, Ashley Thornell, Shanelle Buffington, Devin Mitchell, and Dallas Mitchell; cousin, Bentlee Buffington; and great-grandparents, Cindy Nelson, Sandy Kilen, Jolene and Ralph Trageser, Marlene and Lester Buffington, and Harvey Noble.
