The Ellsworth Lady Panthers were able to defeat the Adrian Dragon girl’s basketball team 52-44 on their home court on Thursday, December 14. The Panthers were able to seal the deal on the Dragons while only playing seven key players, of which two scored in double digits. The Dragons couldn’t stop sophomore, Ashlynn Meester, who put up 22 points for the Panthers, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and made 13 of 16 free throws. Lizzie Chapa also had a good night of basketball, shooting 50% from the field counting for 12 points. The Panthers as a team made it to the free throw line 31 times which helped them achieve the victory.
For the Dragons Senior, Paige Bullerman, was able to achieve a double double for her team, putting up 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. The Dragons were unable to defeat the fouls they were committing as a team. The team totaled 27 fouls, putting the Panthers on the line more than they would like. Unnecessary turnovers, which accumulated to 18 by the time the final buzzer sounded, didn’t help the Dragons in the neighborhood rivalry either.
